Download an app called OnyX for your version of OS X. IF the application has an uninstaller app, then use it to completely delete the app from your Mac.
Here in Tech Support we have used an Onyx-i mixer that has the Oxford chipset on OSX 10.9.4 and did not have any connectivity problems. Look in your Applications folder, if you have applications you haven't used in a long time, if the app doesn't have a dedicated uninstaller, then you can simply drag it into the OS X Trash icon. OnyX has a nice, clean user interface that provides you with details of what you are about to do using this third-party software. Now with Mac Core Audio you should not have any major problems connecting the mixer to OSX 10.9.4 because you are using an Apple driver and there have not been many changes made to Mac Core Audio with the Mavericks OS update. Designed by Titanium Software, OnyX is free Mac maintenance and optimization software that has been around since OS X Jaguar in 2002, and so it has had a ‘few’ years of experience in this area. Now with your version of the Onyx 1640i does not require a driver an uses Apples driver called Mac Core Audio. The older Onyx-i mixers that do not require a driver for Mac have an Oxford FireWire chipset and the reason why we had to switch to the Dice chipset is because they stopped production of the Oxford FireWire chipsets. ONYX provides incredibly detailed fixture libraries. The reason why one mixer requires a driver where the other does not is because the newer Onyx-i mixers have a new FireWire chipset call Dice. Apple has officially released its latest operating system, OS X Mavericks for free. I sent an e-mail to Mackie support and here is what they respond:īoth versions of the Onyx-i mixers are not officially supported on OSX 10.9.x. The mac is from mid-2012 running mavericks.
